About the client
Mercedes-Benz Group is one of the world’s most recognizable automotive companies, uniting premium passenger cars under the Mercedes-Benz brand and leading commercial vehicle production through Daimler Trucks. The group is synonymous with engineering excellence, reliability, and innovation.
Collaboration scope
I contributed to projects within both Mercedes-Benz and Daimler Trucks. While my direct engagement with Mercedes-Benz was limited, the cooperation with Daimler Trucks became a long-term and impactful collaboration. The focus was on large-scale enterprise applications and IT infrastructure supporting warehouses, assembly plants, and corporate departments.
My role and contributions
As a Solution Architect & Engineer, I was responsible for delivering complex migration, customization, and support projects, including:
- Monitoring systems: migration, deployment, and customization of Icinga and Datadog to ensure full coverage of business-critical infrastructure.
- Enterprise reporting applications: migration and optimization of clustered IBM Cognos environments, including databases, content stores, dispatchers, and gateways.
- Application infrastructure: end-to-end migration of business applications across data centers, with full stack configuration and validation.
- Load testing: preparation and execution of performance and stress testing for SAP applications using industry-standard tools.
- Systems engineering: administration of Linux (SLES 15) and Windows Server clusters to maintain application stability and performance.
- Application services: configuration and support of HAProxy, Apache, Docker, IBM DB2, IBM IHS web server, NFS.
- Identity and security: integration of Azure Entra ID and SAML authentication to modernize user access flows.
- Development and scripting: automation and custom enhancements in PHP, Python, Bash, Java, plus functional testing with Apache JMeter and Cypress.
- Architecture and documentation: creation of system and process diagrams in draw.io to ensure transparency and knowledge transfer.
- Cross-team collaboration: coordination with internal support units, incident management, and escalation handling — ensuring issues were resolved effectively despite organizational bottlenecks.
Value delivered
My contributions improved system stability, reduced downtime risks, and enabled smoother migrations of enterprise applications. Critical monitoring and reporting systems were enhanced, ensuring reliability of daily operations. By combining architectural insight with practical engineering, I supported Mercedes-Benz Group in maintaining high performance of IT services used across its global operations.
